It's true! Surveys tell us that 90% of teachers and advocates agree that formal training in IEPs is necessary to advocate effectively. Yet, fewer than 20% of parents ever take training or ask for help.
Parents, are you truly happy with your child's IEP and their progress?
Teachers, would you like to spend less time and be more efficient with your IEP tasks in the classroom?
I’m Lisa Lightner
A special education advocate, author and special needs parent myself. Early on, I took a lot of training to understand what I could do so my own child would make more progress. I realized that most trainings tell you the laws and your child's rights, but they don't tell you how to apply those laws.
Or, they give you these pie in the sky lists of interventions, but don't tell you how to effectively ask for them. And more importantly, get them on an IEP. Once I figured it out, created a replicable process--I swore I would teach everyone I could. That's what I do.

Anything you need to help you along the IEP process (from beginning to end) can be found here. The best part is that it is much more user friendly than other sites I have been on. Lisa is knowledgeable, thorough, and generous with her advice. There is a cost associated with some of the training and tools, but that cost is very minimal (especially compared to others) and once paid for, is yours FOR A LIFETIME.
